PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Dr. David A. T. Donohue is the Founder
and President of both IHRDC and Arlington Storage Corporation. Dr.
Donohue is a technical specialist, businessman, attorney and lecturer
who has worked in the development of energy projects where he has
a senior equity position. He is a former Associate Professor of
Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering at Pennsylvania State University,
and held various positions in engineering and research for Exxon
before becoming a developer of energy projects. He is an active
developer of underground gas storage fields in New York State, an
explorer for oil and gas in the US and Ireland, and a developer
of innovative learning systems for the energy industry. He lectures
broadly in the industry management programs. Dr. Donohue holds a
Ph.D. degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Pennsylvania
State University and a J.D. degree from Boston College Law School.
Y. Serdar Dogulu
is a Petroleum Engineer at IHRDC. He is currently involved in the
content development of interactive learning and training products
within IHRDC. Dr. Dogulu developed and taught several company-sponsored
technical courses. After earning his Ph.D. degree in Petroleum and
Natural Gas Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University,
he held a post-doctoral researcher position with the Energy and
Geo-Environmental Engineering Department at Penn State. His areas
of interest include numerical simulation and reservoir characterization.
His research on perforated completions led to the development of
several fluid flow models that are used to predict the production
performance of damaged well completions. During his graduate studies
he spent a summer as a Research Technologist at the Chevron Petroleum
Technology Company working on various reservoir simulation and management
tools including stream-tube techniques for modeling large oil reservoirs.
Dr. Marie N. Fagan is Director, International
Gas Programs for IHRDC. Prior to joining IHRDC in 2001, she was
with Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), providing expertise
in upstream technology, economics, and financial performance; and
assisting clients in developing corporate strategy and upstream
business plans. Previously, she served as an economist with the
US Department of Energy, responsible for coverage of petroleum company
profitability, industry structure, and analysis of market incentives;
and with Decision Analysis Corporation of Virginia, where she performed
econometric modeling of energy markets. Dr. Fagan's path-breaking
research into the effect of technology on the cost of oil and gas
exploration and development has been published in both academic
and technical journals. She received an M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics
from The American University and a B.S. in Business Administration
(Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Connecticut.
Maher Habbal is Manager, Business Simulators
Development/Applications for IHRDC. He is responsible for developing
and implementing the business simulation models used in IHRDC management
programs and workshops. To date he has built five such simulators:
one for the oil industry, two for the gas, and two for power. His
other responsibilities include internal financial reporting, analysis
and forecasting. Before joining IHRDC, Mr. Habbal worked three years
with Arthur D. Little, Inc. as a Senior Financial Analyst on financial
reporting and modeling. Also, as a member of the teaching staff
at the Arthur D. Little School of Management Master of Science in
Management Program, he taught Finance, Economics and Accounting.
Mr. Habbal holds a Master of Science Degree in Management from Arthur
D. Little School of Management and a B.S. in Business Economics
from the Lebanese American University.
Ken Ogle is a Petroleum Engineer and Senior
Technical Editor at IHRDC. He is currently in charge of developing
content for IHRDC's computer-based knowledge and learning systems.
Before joining IHRDC in 1991, he worked for Chevron USA as a drilling
representative, production engineer and production foreman, and
for Bechtel Petroleum Operations as a reservoir engineer and production
engineer. Mr. Ogle holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Petroleum Engineering
from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Technical
and Professional Writing degree from Northeastern University. He
is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Society
for Technical Communication, and is a licensed Professional Engineer
in California.
Andy Parums is an experienced executive,
consultant and trainer in the international energy and utility business
with 21 years experience in BP and 5 years independent consultancy.
His key areas of expertise are: organization development, strategy
formulation, team alignment, performance measurement and learning,
risk management, and HSE. Former responsibilities include advising
BP Exploration Board and Field Management on HSE performance improvement
and technology transfer. He was also responsible for corporate strategy
development, market analysis of electricity, gas, nuclear, coal
and oil markets, and major corporate acquisition strategies in earlier
