The source of IPIMS' content is IHRDC's 113-module Video Library for E&P Specialists, a comprehensive video-based training and technology reference system. It was produced in cooperation with 17 sponsor companies and completed at a total cost of $14 million.

The system contains over 100 hours of video, 17,000 graphics and 10,000 pages of text. This content is continually updated to reflect changing technology.

IPIMS covers all major areas of E&P technology.
