Background Learning is a powerful virtual learning resource that allows users to learn about upstream petroleum technology on a self-paced basis. It consists of 228 interactive Learning Plans in all areas of E&P technology.

The Learning Plans are broad in scope and application. Some are ideal for those with non-technical backgrounds; others will be of interest only to technical specialists. A user may select his or her own Learning Plan, or follow one of many development plans that have been specified by IHRDC or your company. A Learning Plan may be as ambitious as a Comprehensive Learning Program, a more modest Learning Module, or an even more limited Learning Topic.
