International Petroleum Business Workshop
Duration:5 DAYS
This workshop uses lectures and a business game to provide a thorough grounding in the petroleum (oil and gas) value chain, including exploration agreements, exploration methods, drilling, field development, production, reservoir engineering and enhanced recovery, pipeline transmission, refinery and petrochemical operations, and marketing of crude oil and products. During the business game, participants work in teams to find and develop oil and gas reserves in the West Africa Republic of Sandland and then decide on the optimal way to develop and market the production. In each session, the teams are given background information on the technical and economic aspects of the decision to be made during that session. Then they pursue the development and marketing of the discovered oil and gas from the upstream to the midstream and downstream markets over a 20-year horizon. As participants apply classroom knowledge to practical job-related problems, they also develop the key financial skills used to measure project and corporate performance, including project investment analysis and financial statements.
A major company asked us to teach our International Gas Business Workshop in 1996 for its international managers. Since then, we have been invited back twice each year to teach it for them, with consistently high ratings from participants.
